Limited to just 50 pieces, the TAG Heuer Monaco Speed 12 transforms the power of a 12-cylinder engine into a breathtaking mechanical spectacle.
At the intersection of motorsport passion and avant-garde watchmaking, Swiss luxury watchmaker TAG Heuer has unveiled the extraordinary TAG Heuer Monaco Speed 12, a limited-edition masterpiece that channels the adrenaline of the racetrack into a groundbreaking horological creation.
Making its debut during the prestigious Formula 1 Louis Vuitton Grand Prix de Monaco 2026, the Monaco Speed 12 celebrates TAG Heuer’s enduring connection to speed, performance, and innovation. From the iconic image of Steve McQueen behind the wheel at Le Mans to the modern dominance of Max Verstappen, the Swiss marque has remained deeply intertwined with the heartbeat of motorsport for generations.
A Motorsport Icon Reimagined
Since its introduction in 1969, the Monaco has stood apart from every other chronograph. It was the world’s first square, water-resistant automatic chronograph and one of the earliest self-winding chronographs powered by the legendary Calibre 11 movement.
Named after the glamorous Principality of Monaco and its legendary Formula 1 circuit, the Monaco quickly became a symbol of bold, unconventional design. Its distinctive square case and left-hand crown challenged traditional watchmaking norms and established the model as one of the most recognisable timepieces ever created.
More than half a century later, the Monaco continues to evolve while remaining faithful to its pioneering spirit.
As Official Timekeeper of Formula 1 and a partner of Oracle Red Bull Racing, TAG Heuer has continued to celebrate the sport’s greatest achievements. The success of Max Verstappen and the relentless pursuit of performance at the pinnacle of motorsport perfectly mirror the philosophy that has defined the Monaco collection since its inception.
The Monaco Speed 12 carries that heritage into the future, translating the raw energy of high-performance racing machines into an extraordinary mechanical experience on the wrist.
The Art of Time at Full Throttle
At the heart of the Monaco Speed 12 lies one of the most innovative displays seen in contemporary watchmaking.
Inspired by the firing sequence of a high-performance V12 engine, twelve rotating titanium pistons circle the dial. Each piston reveals the corresponding hour through a dynamic rotating display, creating a mesmerising reinterpretation of the traditional jumping-hour complication.
The result is a constantly evolving mechanical performance that transforms the simple act of reading the time into a visual spectacle.
Developed in collaboration with La Fabrique du Temps Louis Vuitton, the Monaco Speed 12 utilises an exclusive adaptation of the patented Spin Time movement architecture. The project combines TAG Heuer’s racing-inspired DNA with the haute horlogerie expertise of one of Switzerland’s most respected movement manufacturers.
The watch represents a remarkable fusion of innovation, engineering, and artistic craftsmanship.
Designed Like a Supercar
Crafted from lightweight Grade 5 titanium, the Monaco Speed 12 retains the collection’s iconic square case while showcasing an entirely new level of technical sophistication.
Four black DLC-coated open-worked arches suspend the movement within the case, creating exceptional depth and transparency while emphasising the mechanism’s architecture.
A domed sapphire crystal and sapphire caseback offer uninterrupted views of the intricate movement, while the square sapphire bezel maximises visibility of the rotating pistons from virtually every angle.
The open-worked dial draws direct inspiration from high-performance engine construction. Vertical grooves evoke engine covers, while the skeletonised minute hand mirrors the instrumentation in a racing cockpit.
Completing the motorsport-inspired aesthetic is a black rubber strap with a textile pattern and striking red hand-stitching.
Powered by the Calibre TH84-00
Driving the Monaco Speed 12 is the automatic Calibre TH84-00, developed and produced by La Fabrique du Temps Louis Vuitton.
Created from the revolutionary Spin Time concept originally developed by master watchmakers Michel Navas and Enrico Barbasini, the movement has been completely reinterpreted to embody the rhythm and energy of a twelve-cylinder racing engine.
As the central minute hand completes each revolution, one piston returns to its resting position while the next rotates precisely 90 degrees to reveal the current hour. The choreography unfolds continuously, creating an animated mechanical display unlike anything else in modern watchmaking.
The result is a timepiece that doesn’t merely tell time—it performs it.
Limited to 50 Pieces
Produced in an exclusive run of just 50 individually numbered examples, the TAG Heuer Monaco Speed 12 stands among the most ambitious interpretations of the Monaco ever created.
Unveiled on the streets of Monaco during Formula 1’s most glamorous weekend, the watch serves as a tribute to the precision, innovation, and competitive spirit that have defined TAG Heuer’s relationship with motorsport for more than half a century.
From Steve McQueen’s legendary association with racing to today’s Formula 1 champions, the Monaco Speed 12 continues the story of a watch that has always pushed boundaries, transforming speed, engineering, and mechanical artistry into one remarkable creation.
